How Far Can We Go?

For the next few weeks in school, the children will be participating in a range of activities designed to increase health and get us all more active.  This week we are kicking off with a challenge to see ‘HOW FAR CAN WE GO?’.  The aim is to increase fitness by walking laps around our school.  Every time we walk a lap of the school, we will fill it in a sheet which we are keeping in our folders.  At the end of the challenge, we will add up the total distances walked to see how far we got! Best of luck everyone!

Tree of Light Success

What a great night was had last Sunday! Thank you Santa & Mrs Claus for coming and thanks to the O’Callaghan’s for bringing him in such style! The Tree of Light is wonderful – thank you Tomás Lannin, beautifully decorated by the Grimes family with beautiful ribbons from Goretti! The lights were sponsored by SB&TA/SDCC. Thank you to Jack Murphy/Damien Cogan/Timmy Griffin and anyone else who helped in putting it up! Thank you to the Brosnan’s for all those lovely tea lights and to the Bunratty for all that lovely hot chocolate! Thanks to Carol & Con O’Sullivan and the Fire Brigade for making sure we were all safe and finally congratulations to Leah O’Donovan who turned on the lights!

Well done to the N.S. Parents Association for pulling this all together…you know who you are!

Credit Union Art Winners!

Congratulations to two budding artists from Scoil Mhuire NS who this evening were honoured at a ceremony in Skibbereen which celebrated the winners in the annual Skibbereen Credit Union Art Competition. Liadh O’Donovan in second class and Ailíbhse Griffin in sixth class were the recipients of prizes in recognition of the excellent standard of their artwork. This year the theme of the popular art competition was ‘My Favourite Book Character’ and the girls had to ward off stiff competition from hundreds of pupils in schools all over West Cork. Well done to both girls and their teachers and also to all our other students throughout the school who took part, some of whose art was highly commended and are on display in the Credit Union in Skibbereen.  Check out if yours is there by checking some of the photos below or by visiting Skibbereen Credit Union.
