Today the exhibition of our tapestries opened officially. The Mexican ambassador, Carlos Garcia, a recent visitor to our school , was there. Minister Brendan Howlin also came to open the exhibition and spoke about William Lamport as he is from Wexford like Lamport .He knows a great deal about his history and he said our tapestries were ” amazing” and that everyone in Scoil Mhuire should be proud of them.
There were many photographers there and even a camera man. Most of the speeches were in Spanish but I did understand *Viva Irlanda , Viva Mexico. I also met Sonia Hyland who is the Irish ambassador to Mexico, she was very nice and also loved the tapestries. I also met the sponsors of the the trip from the Municipality of Huixquilican ( pronounced whiskeylukan) and they were delighted with the tapestries also. they wanted to know if my classmates were excited about their work being on show in Mexico.
The exhibition is now open to the public , the tapestries looked great hanging in such a space and Wesley at the museum did a great job.
I am glad that it went well today and tomorrow I am off to Teotihuacan, the City of the Gods, to see the Aztec pyramids .
