Wrapped and ready to go; children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class today showed off their Team Hope Ireland Shoe boxes. The boxes were filled with simple Christmas gifts by the children themselves and the boxes will soon be transported to some of the poorest countries in the world, just in time for Christmas. There they will be given to ‘forgotten children’ – victims of war, disease or poverty; children living on the edge, in some of the poorest countries in the world. For families living on less than €1 a day, Christmas is just another ordinary day – nothing special, no Christmas tree, no presents. BUT our shoeboxes will bring a little hope, a lot of laughter and smiles for children who have very little. We are very proud of our pupils here at Scoil Mhuire NS who have shown both empathy and compassion in helping these children who are less fortunate than themselves.
